Sorry, I missed yesterday to make an anti-procrastination post.

So what will it be today? What's your task that must not be avoided? How are you going to make your life better by doing that one thing?

Are you setting a timer to make headway or is it something straightforward that can be completed if you just give it your attention?

Are you in need of a challenge for the day? My challenge to you is to give a sink of your choosing a clean. Maybe your kitchen sink needs a washing up bowl taking out and giving a clean and having a scrub at the surfaces underneath. Maybe it's the plug and drainer that need the clean. It might be the taps (faucet?) that need a little TLC. Instead you might decide to take a little time to spruce up a sink in the bathroom and check out those taps, or any subtly lingering toothpaste marks. The choice is yours!

Good luck all, with whatever you decide to tackle today. Remember you can do it!

This is the most recent case of what I dub a "low moon" -- meaning that it seems very low and large in the sky.

What On Earth Is Going On With Trump And The Paris Agreement?

Sigh. So many ignorant science denialists in the comments section.

1. The accord allowed each nation to select a target reduction of CO2. The US agreed to 25% below 2005 levels. 195 nations have reduction targets, not just the US.

2. The target date for industrialised nations is 2025; for developing nations it is 2030.

3. That doesn't mean any nation can wait until 2030 to start lowering CO2. If your target is to have $1 million in your retirement by age 65, you cannot wait until you are 65 to start.

4. China is reducing CO2 now. Today. They are moving more rapidly to solar than the rest of us are.

5. No one is being "penalised". The US simply agreed to that 25% reduction.

6, All industrialised nations are paying to help the developing nations, not just the US. All the major EU nations, Canada, Japan, Australia, Sweden, Norway, South Korea, etc. The money goes into a UN climate fund to help developing nations convert to green energy. They have to apply for grants for specific projects. Most people recognise these nations cannot do it by themselves, and the CO2 any nation emits affects our climate. All of us. The list of projects funded is public record.

7. The accord was signed under a treaty the US had already ratified earlier, the UN Framework on Climate Change.

Oh and by the way, a lot of American cities are sticking to the Paris agreement, it is just that poor excuse for a president that doesn't seem to care.

This last week has been hell for a lot of us for varying reasons, and generally pretty distressing and exhausting all around. I kind of want to see if I can just yknow - see if I can plan a nice day for folks, or at least a half day where we can all just have genuine fun but I'm not really sure what we can do in the area. At least in our price range. :^/

Life is full of things which are hard or tedious or otherwise unpleasant that need doing anyhow. They help make the world go 'round, they improve skills, and they boost your sense of self-respect. But doing them still kinda sucks. It's all the more difficult to do those things when nobody appreciates it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our accomplishments and pat each other on the back.

What are some of the hard things you've done recently? What are some hard things you haven't gotten to yet, but need to do?

The "pup" in the comics below is Florence a Bowman's Wolf (uplifted wolf species). She's as intelligent as a human.

I agree with Chris's dad. Especially given that it's a mobility device *with communications*. Killing the comms when there's a fault in the drive system is an *insanely* stupid decision.

What stupid design decisions have *you* had to deal with?

I got back out to pick up pears, so we cleaned half a bucket of them, and I put the bits in a crockpot to cook into pie filling.  :D

“Okay,” Heron patted the air lightly. “That's not what I was insinuating.”

“Insi-- what?” Shiv threw his hands up, and the momentum pulled him to his feet, balancing lightly on his toes before beginning to pace between the front door and the short wall that held both his bedroom door and the bathroom door. The young man paced, loping strides pulling him nearly nose to nose with the wall before he reversed direction to lunge toward the opposite wall.

“In-sin-u-ate,” Heron repeated blandly, though he was careful to pronounce each syllable. “it's hinting, but subtly, or jockeying for position or a favor. Like...” Long fingers curled as Heron snapped his middle finger away from his thumb. “Muuuum,” he mock-whined, “my legs hurt, and the back seat is squashed up against yours and Da's.” Another minuscule shrug followed as the faintly petulant expression faded away. “In that case, insinuating that sitting in the front passenger seat would be more comfortable.”

Today is warm, partly cloudy, and muggy.  We went out to the orchard and removed many many field weeds from under the pear tree.  It is a bumper year for pears, they are all over the ground already, with plenty left overhead.  If I have the energy, I'll go back out later and pick up a bucket of them to make pie filling.
